About

Growing up, I was a bit too emotional. I would cry whenever something upset or scared me, or when I’m laughing. I tended to gravitate towards things like nursing or counseling. Of course, I would tell my father this, and he would get more than a little worried. After all, he worked in a hospital for the better part of 40 years. He knew how strenuous it could be. Still, like the stubborn daughter I was, I refused to listen.

So we struck a deal. I told both he and my mother that I would become a doctor, and they seemed okay with that. Unfortunately, I couldn’t stomach the cadavers I had to work with, so I left the field of allopathic medicine entirely. I went home and mulled over what I wanted to do for the rest of my life, which, in all honesty, wasn’t an easy question to answer. During this time, I took up a job as a personal care assistant. I fell in love with the job. I truly did, which led me to become certified as a home health aide. Before I knew it, I felt like I found something I truly enjoyed.

I went down to Texas. Currently, I’m a certified substance abuse counselor and LPC-Associate supervised by Megan Yale, M.S, LMFT-S, LPC-S, LCDC.  While I’m no longer a personal care assistant, I wish to return to it one day. I enjoy reading as well, and carry my fascination with the fantastical into both my personal and professional lives.
